02 — The sentences

01 — The chamber

The first sentence namesnobody by name.

Answers almost always start with a framing, and that comes from a register: chamber, guild, trade register. No firm appears here, but here it is decided who counts as a specialist at all. Anyone listed wrongly or not at all does not appear in the sentences that follow.

Source: Chamber of trades, firm registerFor a wallbox with load management, several registered specialist firms in the region are options.

The sentence with no name decides who may appear in the next ones.

02 — The directory

Here the names fall. From somebody else’s profile.

The sentence naming two firms comes from a directory that belongs to neither. How the firm is named there, which services are listed and whether the address is right all help decide whether it appears here. That can be changed; it cannot be written.

Source: Trade directory, profile pageMeyer Elektrotechnik and Elektro Sandkuhl GmbH are named.

The entry can be changed. The sentence cannot be written.

03 — Your page

This one sentencecomes from you.

Of four sentences, one comes from a source you own. It is not there because the page looks good but because it answers exactly one question and gets specific: a number, a building type, a limit. From a services overview with twelve bullet points, no sentence can be quoted.

Source: Your own pageOne provider describes load management for apartment buildings with up to twelve charging points.

What can be quoted is what gets specific. A bullet list is not specific.

04 — The forum

The last sentencebelongs to nobody at all.

The fourth sentence comes from a forum, a user report, a review. It is the only one nothing at all can be done about, and it is often the one that moves the customer most. Anyone wanting to argue it away has misread the situation; anyone who knows it can answer it.

No entry helps against this sentence. Knowing it helps.

03 — The repeat

The same question in May.A different paragraph.

Between the two runs nobody changed anything: not the page, not the entry, not the offer. What changed were the systems. A single answer is therefore not a result but a sample.

1 of 4 sources is yours0 of 4 sources is yours

The question is real, the firms named are invented.

Run 1Four sources, one of them yours. Named in 17 of 120 answers.Run 23 sources are the same. Yours is gone, and the rate went up.

The rule

No mention and no placement is promised, because neither is for sale. What is promised is a log with date and wording, and the same question set next run.

Without repetition there is no comparison, only a feeling.

04 — The log

No report with traffic lights.A log you can check.

The project register on this site holds five cases, and none of them is a GEO audit. Instead of quoting somebody else’s, here is what lies on the table at the end of the first two weeks. It is checkable, because every line carries a date and the exact wording.

Per line in the log4

Date and time
Because the same question is answered differently two weeks later.
The exact wording
The question as it was asked, and the answer as it came back.
The sources
Which pages were cited, and which of them belong to you.
The rate
Mentions per system, separately. No average across four systems.

Whose it isYours, with the question set and the raw data. Anyone carrying on measuring themselves can, and that is what it is for.

What it is notA baseline is not a forecast. It says where you stand today and says nothing about where you will stand in six months, because that depends on systems nobody here owns.

05 — The price

The baseline costs once. The run after it stays the same.

With a retainer the effort normally falls, because the work settles in. Not here: between two runs the systems have changed, so every run is a fresh measurement. That is why the run does not get cheaper the longer it goes on. It costs me the usual discount argument.

The unit

For sale
The baseline, an audit across 30 questions and 4 systems with the cited sources put in order: from €795 one-off. After that, the run against the same question set for €25 a month, cancellable monthly. Together with the website, GEO and SEO are included in the €50 a month. All prices are final prices. No VAT is charged under § 19 UStG.
Not for sale
A mention, a placement, a position. They are not for sale, and whoever sells them is selling a guess.

The unitOne run over the same question set. Not per question, not per system, not per mention.

The audit
One to two weeks, available on its own. Damjan Savić does it; the question set and raw data are yours afterwards.
The run
Monthly or quarterly, cancellable monthly. Anyone measuring on their own after the baseline pays nothing further.
The no
If your customers are not yet putting their question to an assistant, I say so and do not start.

06 — The sources

What gets written is notthe answer but the quote.

Because the paragraph cannot be written, the work goes into what it is made from. That is four things, and three of them have nothing to do with text but with being unambiguous: the same name, the same address, the same service, everywhere.

What gets worked on4

  1. 01One name, the same everywhereTwo spellings of the same firm are two firms to a system.
  2. 02Registers and the chamberThe sentence naming nobody decides who gets listed at all.
  3. 03Quotable pagesOne question per page, one number in it, one area in the text. No bullet list.
  4. 04Structured dataSo that a system does not have to guess the details but can read them.

07 — The objections

Four sentences from the company. Each has its answer beside it.

Four objections I expect in a first conversation about GEO, and the second is the one where most providers get dishonest. The answers stand on the right.

  1. “Our customers do not ask ChatGPT.”

Measure, do not guessThirty questionsA no is possible

Possibly, and then it is not worth it. But that can be measured instead of guessed: thirty questions, four systems, and then you know. If the measurement says so, I decline.

  2. “Can you place us there?”

    No placementNo auctionCheckable, not guaranteed

No, and nobody can. There is no placement, no auction and no ranking. Anyone guaranteeing a mention is guaranteeing something they do not control, and counting on nobody checking.

  3. “Is this not just SEO?”

Overlap yesClick versus answerA different metric

Much overlaps, and anyone who has done SEO properly is not starting from zero. The difference is what happens afterwards: a search result wants a click, an answer replaces it.

  4. “But it changes all the time.”

Sample versus rateSame question setComparison, not feeling

Yes, and that is why it gets measured instead of estimated. A single answer is a sample; thirty questions across four systems are a rate, and the same rate next month is a comparison.

The long answers

“Our customers do not ask ChatGPT.”

The objection is right in many trades and already wrong in some, and which applies does not depend on a feeling but on the customer base. Anyone working mainly on referral with twenty years of regulars will find little in an answer. Anyone getting enquiries from people who did not know the firm before is in exactly the situation where an answer replaces first contact. The audit tells these two apart, and does so before anybody spends money on implementation: thirty real customer questions, four systems, logged. If it turns out that nobody in the trade is named in the answers anyway, that is a usable result and a good reason to do nothing further.

“Can you place us there?”

This is where the market gets dishonest, for an understandable reason: the question is fair, and a no sells worse than a yes. It is still a no. Classic search has an ad auction and a result list with positions; a generated answer has neither. There is a paragraph assembled from several sources, and the assembly changes between two runs without anybody having done anything. What can be influenced is the probability: unambiguous data in the registers that get cited, and pages from which a sentence can be quoted. What can be checked is the rate across thirty questions. Together that is a serious offer; a guaranteed mention is not.

“Is this not just SEO?”

The technical work is largely the same: clean structure, unambiguous details, pages about one topic rather than twelve. Anyone who has done that for classic search is halfway there. Two things still differ fundamentally. First the metric: in search a position counts and then a click, in an answer what counts is whether the name is in the paragraph, and often no click happens at all. Second the form of the text: for search you write a page that matches a query, for an answer you write a paragraph a system can quote without rebuilding it. That is more specific, shorter and closer to the customer’s question than most service pages that exist today.

“But it changes all the time.”

This is the best of the four objections, because it is true. The systems change in weeks, not years, and an answer from today is not the same one in four weeks. But it does not follow that nothing can be measured; it follows that it has to be measured properly. A single question asked once is worthless; the same set of thirty questions, in the same four systems, at two points in time, gives two rates and therefore a statement about direction. That is exactly why the question set is fixed and not improved along the way: a question set that changes with you makes every comparison impossible. And that is exactly why the run does not get cheaper the longer it goes on, because every run measures against a system that has changed in the meantime.
