06 — Growth Partner

The website is done. The work starts now.

At CoderConda, website care after launch orders five plans by how long it takes to see whether they worked. None of them is more important than the others; the wait decides the order.

02 — The plans

01 — The number

Measurement comes first.Otherwise any order is just an opinion.

Before I change anything, what happens today has to be readable: how many people arrive, where they stop, which enquiry came through which route. That is set up in a week and costs almost nothing. After it, every further decision is verifiable instead of merely argued.

Every enquiry has a source.

Without this row, the four below it are guesses.

02 — The page

The page already stands. It just says the wrong thing first.

The visitors are already there. They read three lines and decide, and what those three lines say can be changed in a few days. Whether the change carried shows up in the measurement a month later. It is the cheapest gain available.

More enquiries from the same traffic.

No rebuild. The same page, a different order.

03 — The routine

The routine runs by hand.Every single month.

Writing a quote, issuing an invoice, following up: routines that repeat identically every month cost the same every month. One small automation package removes exactly one of them. After two months the time sheet says whether it carried.

The same task, with nobody typing.

One routine per package. Two at once goes wrong.

04 — The writing

Writing works.Just not in this quarter.

A good article gets found, shared and quoted — months after it goes up. That does not make it worse, it makes it unsuitable as a first move. It belongs in a month that also carries something short, which answers sooner.

Enquiries arrive through an article.

Six months is not an argument against writing.

05 — The idea

The idea comes last. Not because it is a bad one.

A tool of your own, a portal, a product: these are the plans where being wrong costs the most, because it only shows months later. That is why the idea comes last. And why it starts as soon as the four above it have become measurable.

03 — The month

Always the shortest first. Then the long one never starts.

The order says what comes first. It does not say what comes alone. A month that only runs the quick things ends the year exactly where it started.

One month2 bars

short
long

Something that answers inside this month.

A change to the page, one routine less by hand, a number nobody had before. It is readable at the end-of-month call, and that is what you judge me on.

Something that reaches past the edge.

Writing whose result can be read off in half a year at the earliest. A tool that needs three quarters. This month it shows nothing, and it starts anyway, because otherwise it never does.

That is why I work month by month rather than on call: the long bar shows nothing in month one and can only be read after weeks and months.

04 — The evidence

A system from 2023.It is still running.

This page claims that duration is what makes the difference. Then it owes a piece of evidence that is old, not one that is new. The oldest case in the register is an integration from 2023, built before CoderConda, and its number is a zero.

0 manual stock discrepancies

A zero is proof that nothing happened. That is exactly what ongoing work buys: no manual reconciliation, no discrepancy anyone has to hunt down.

What it does not prove

It is not a website. The proof is an integration, and what it proves is duration, not the effect of a piece of writing.

The case study

05 — Fixed and open

The fee is fixed. The plan is not.

With a partner, what I work on changes every month. What does not change is everything else: the fee, the rhythm, the person you talk to, and who owns what gets made. None of that is renegotiated monthly.

1month’s notice
1call a month
2plans per month

Fixed

The fee
A fixed monthly fee, named in writing after the first call. It does not change from month to month.
The rhythm
One call a month. Last month’s numbers before it, next month’s order after it.
The person
Damjan Savić. I write the copy, I build the packages, I sit in the call.
Ownership
Copy, code and access are yours from the first month. Also if you stop afterwards.
The order
Which plan comes first is decided by the measurement, and that changes.
The scope
Two plans a month, one short, one long. Which ones is decided in the call.
The exit
Cancellable monthly, with one month’s notice to the end of a month, no reason needed. No minimum term.

Decided each month

Why no figure

Because a partner sells capacity, not scope. The monthly fee is fixed, and it is a line in the contract rather than a figure on a page. I name the amount in writing after the first call, before anything is built. So what is published is the unit: one fixed fee, two plans, one call, cancellable monthly.

06 — One month

Four stations. The fourth leads to the first.

This is what a month looks like. It does not end with a sign-off, it ends with the order for the next one. That is the whole difference between a project and a partner, and it is why there is no arrow to the right at the end of this row.

  1. 01

    Plan

    Two plans, named.

One short, one long, each with the sentence that says how its result will be recognised.

  2. 02

    Delivery

    Both built.

Copy, page, package or code. What gets made lives in your accounts, not mine.

  3. 03

    Review

    The numbers beside it.

The short item has a result, the long one does not yet. Both are in the same report.

  4. 04

    Prioritise

    The order, again.

What worked moves up. What did not gets dropped rather than given another round.

back to 01

No sign-off document, no project end. Just the next call.

It does not have to be a partner.

If you want one thing built and will carry on yourself afterwards, a single engagement serves you better. Both work, and neither rules out the other.

07 — The objections

Four things that come up.All four with good reason.

Every one of these has been said to me, and every one has a true core. Here they are with what I answer.

  • “We know ourselves what needs doing.”

True, and that is not a polite phrase: you know the list better than I do. What is missing is not the list but the number that says which row comes first.

    • Your list
    • My order
    • One measurement
  • “And if we want out again?”

Then you cancel, with one month’s notice to the end of a month, no reason needed. There is no minimum term. The contract runs until you cancel. Whatever was made by then is yours.

    • Cancellable monthly
    • No reason needed
    • Everything is yours
  • “And if a month brings nothing?”

It happens, and I say so when it does. Every plan gets a sentence beforehand saying how its result will be recognised. If that sentence is missing, I do not start.

    • Result named upfront
    • On the record in the call
  • “But we already have an agency.”

Good. Then the question is not who does the work but who owns the order it is done in. I work alongside an agency, not against it.

    • Alongside, not instead
    • The technical side
    • No creative work
The long answersFour things that come up.
01

In nearly every first call somebody can recite the five plans without thinking. What is in none of them is a number that puts one of the five ahead of the others. That is why measurement comes first and not fourth: it costs almost nothing, takes under a month, and is the only one without which the other four stay guesses. I do not bring a better list. I bring the order, and after that I put it to you afresh every month.

Your listMy orderOne measurement
02

Anyone who wants to stop cancels, and that is the end of it. The notice is one month to the end of a month, there is no minimum term and no duty to give a reason. The contract runs until you cancel. A month is the unit that is billed. Whoever leaves early has paid for exactly the plans every agency sells: the quick ones. The long plans can only be read over weeks and months, and I promise no result by a given date. Copy, code and access are yours from the first month anyway, even if you leave.

Cancellable monthlyNo reason neededEverything is yours
03

A month without a result is not an accident, it is part of the arrangement: of two plans, one is built so that it shows nothing this month. What must not happen is a month without an account of itself. Every plan carries the sentence for how its result is recognised before it starts, and the call puts what actually happened next to it. Twice the same thing with no effect, and it leaves the list rather than getting a third round.

Result named upfrontOn the record in the call
04

An agency does campaigns, design and creative work, and I am not better at that than they are. What is usually missing from that line-up is somebody who sets up the measurement, justifies the order and builds the technical plans instead of passing them on. I am specialised in the technical side and offer no creative work. In several cases the agency sits in the same monthly call, and the split has stayed the same: they supply the content, I supply the order and the delivery.
